APSCO registers turnover of Rs. 138 crore

On Thursday, the Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority (VUDA) Chairman PSN Raju inaugurated the APCO Fabrics Designers Collection showroom. The Divisional Marketing Officer K Ratnam said that the APCO registered a turnover of Rs.138 crore during the year 2006-07 and so far earned Rs.60 crore against the target of Rs.150 crore during the financial year.

The Divisional Marketing Officer said that it is providing employment to 50,000 weavers and are plans to procure products worth Rs.70 crore from weavers' societies during 2007-08 and it has already issued production orders to more than 500 societies.

It is also planning to franchise hand loom products to dealers outside the State and organize exhibitions to popularize hand loom fabrics. It is coming up with 120 new designs in shirting and furnishings.
