GVMC and VUDA to fund for the project
The Chief Minister, Dr.YS Rajasekhara Reddy laid the foundation stone for a project aimed at bringing a permanent solution to the regular flooding of the excess water from Mehadrigedda reservoir into the airport. The flood control project estimated to cost Rs. 70 crore that is being jointly funded by the Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority (VUDA) and the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC). The project is expected to be completed by one and half years time.
Three bridges will be built to provide access to the airport and other industries located on either side of the streams and the training of Mehadrigedda and Kondagedda channels are expected to be completed before monsoon. The CM also inaugurated the Pachavati township developed at Akkireddypalem that was constructed at a cost of Rs. 40 crore.
