Top officials from all command and fleet headquarters attended
According to a press release from the Navy, the Chief of Naval Staff Suresh Mehta inaugurated the three day Naval Commanders Conference-2007 at the headquarters of the Eastern Naval Command (ENC) on Tuesday. The conference which is considered to be the highest decision making body in the navy will deliberate upon major operational issues like Defence maritime interests, operational planning, coastal security, Defence of national asses and review of weapons and platforms.
The conference was attended by top ranking officers from the integrated headquarters at New Delhi and all the command and fleet headquarters. Considering the growing danger from the non state actors in the neighborhood and the overall security environment becoming complex over the Indian Ocean would also focus on low intensity maritime operations.
The conference would also discuss the induction of new ships and weapons systems and integration of the same into the operational mode. Re-evaluation of threats and vital welfare areas would also be discussed in the conference.
