Though Public Health workers participated in the strike in large numbers, water supply and electricity departments were exempted from the strike. He activists have stated that the strike would be indefinite until their demands are met with.
AITUC district general secretary M. Ananda Rao said the demands like NMR regularization, house sites for the workers, approval of the Corporation service rules and the minimum wages for the contract and society workers were not conceded. Only permanent workers took part in the strike he said. Workers of 'Shubram' and 'Janachaitnya' schemes under private public participation have attended their duties. He further said that 3500 employees struck to work.
The GVMC chief medical officer MS Raju said that out of 1200 permanent workers only 140 and out of 2000 workers of Shubram and Janachaitnya only 1900 attended the duties. He said that notices were issued to Residential Welfare Association to facilitate the 'Shubram' and 'Janachaitnya' workers to perform duties.
