ATA president seeks more facilities
The flight calibration of the Instrument Landing System (ILS) at the airport continued for the second day on Thursday by the Delhi team. The team will finish off the pending work on Friday and return to the headquarters according to reliable sources.
As the Chief Minister himself personally taken up the issue with the Defence Minister AK Anthony for early clearance, the proposal to allow round the clock operations in the Visakhapatnam Airport might be expedited. The Air Travelers Association (ATA) (India) president D. Varada Reddy urged the State and Central Governments to ensure that the airport is opened early for the round the clock flight operations with bigger aircrafts as all the mandatory facilities like extended runway, night landing, ILS etc., are in place. He asked more facilities for the international flight operations.
