DGCA officials complete the probe
Normal operations of flights of all airlines is likely to resume at Visakhapatnam Airport with the stranded Paramount Airways flight being towed to the tarmac. The Hyderabad-Visakhapatnam flight overshot the runway while landing on the morning of May 12 and got stuck in slush. Though no passenger or crew was injured in slush made the runway inoperable.
On the first day, flights of all airlines were cancelled. As the runway was operable for smaller aircraft, except Indian and Sahara, the other airlines are operating their flights as usual. According to Paramount Airways representatives, the stranded aircraft had been move to tarmic and that there was no dislocation in the operations of its flights. Formal clearance is awaited for the aircraft to fly.
According to sources, the two member team of officials from the office of Director General of Civil Aviation, Chennai left Visakhapatnam after inspecting the runway and the ill fated aircraft. The officials have taken all factors into consideration while coming to a conclusion including the day temperature, humidity, fog at the time of the landing. The officials also recorded the statements of the pilot and co-pilot. The team would submit its report to the Director General soon.
