Says Tax compliance improved
Chief Minister, Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy on Friday laid the foundation stone for the Commercial Taxes Office (CTO) Building at Mudasarlova in the city. During his brief speech, he said that the State Government has improved its tax collection without hiking taxes. He said that during the last three years no new taxes were levied but loopholes were plugged which helped the Government to increase its collection base apart from preventing from mis-utilization. He asked the officials not to harass the traders and be transparent in their work.
The Chief Minister gave away mementos to Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) Chairman and Managing Director PK Bishnoi and Varun Motors Director MD VP Kishore for being the highest tax payers in the public and private sectors respectively in the Visakhapatnam region. While the VSP has contributed Rs. 122 crores to the exchequer towards APVAT, Central Sales Tax and Entry Tax while the Varun Motors has been adjusted best dealer for paying Rs. 70 crores towards Sales Tax and compliance with VAT.
The Union Minister of State for Mines, T. Subbarami Reddy and Commercial Taxes Minister, Konatala Ramakrishna, the Deputy Commissioner of Commercial taxes B. Ramanjaneyulu and top leaders participated.
