In Visakhapatnam district alone

The Visakhapatnam Telecom District General Manager P Nagaraju on Wednesday said that cellular connections increased from 11,000 in March 2003 to 91,000 in March 2007. He reviewed the Telecom developments in the last seven years on the eve of World Telecommunications Day is being celebrated as the year of "Connecting the Young". The number of cell towers in the district has gone to 80 and another 36 more towers are coming up.

He said that there are 4,945 WLL connections in urban and rural areas and 19 WLL BTS towers are being planned in the district. BSNL is relaunching Pan 399,599,and 899 throughout the State . Business broadband connections are being launched for Rs. 500 per month with 256 kpbs and Rs. 900 per month with 512 kpbs.
