Central Government grants Rs. 453 crore
With the Central Government sanctioning Rs. 453 for the Bus Rapid Transport system, the city is all set to receive a big boost. A corridor comprising 100 ft. roads exclusively for buses will be provided though the main streets of the city. A committee of the Ministry of Urban Development visited the city recently accorded its approval for the project. It is expected that the project once implemented will transform the city into a world class city.
The Union Minister of State for Mines, T. Subbarami Reddy stated this in a press release after a meeting held with the Central Committee at New Delhi on Friday in the presence of Mayor P. Janardhanrao, Deputy Mayor P Dorababu and Municipal Commissioner Mukesh Kumar Meena. The project will be completed within three years, he said.
