BJP opposes acquisition of farm lands
The BJP leader and State President Bandaru Dattatreya in a press conference on Monday after visiting the S.Kota said that the area is like Konaseema with agricultural fields and coconut trees all around. The land is fertile and sugar cane is the main crop. The Thatipudi reservoir is providing abundant water to the farmers to irrigate the lands. He said that his party has extended support to the farmers near S.Kota mostly girijans who are opposing the Government's proposal to acquire their lands for setting up of an alumina smelter unit.
He said that the government wants to acquire 1400 acre of land for the Jindal Factory. Incidentally, seventy percent of the farmers are cultivating the land are girijans. He said that the fact is that the farmers displaced due to Thatipudi reservoir and were given barren lands. Due to their hard work for the past 30 years, they converted into fertile lands and now the government wants to take them back as they are assigned lands.
Committee president S Mallareddy, member T Subbiramireddy, National secretary K Haribabu, State Girijan Morch president K Bojjayya and others accompanied Dattatreya.
