It achieved highest annual crude throughput
Visakha Refinery of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (HPCL) has achieved the highest annual crude throughput of 9.2 million metric tons as against 7.8 mmt accomplished in 2004-05. The refinery also achieved excellent rating in all parameters of the MoU signed with the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.
During the present financial year, Visakha Refinery processed 16 types of crudes, including four new ones from Nigeria, Brunei, Yemen and Azerbaijan. HPCL handled the highest ever LPG of 7.58 lakh tons at Visakhapatnam including 4.15 lakh tons of LPG imports. The total LPG filling at Visakha Refinery was 11.25 lakh tons and also started production of auto LPG in January 2007.
Another significant achievement of Visakha Refinery was the highest export of 1.5 million tons of products worth over Rs. 3200 crore. It is in the advanced stages of implementation of Clean Fuels Project at a cost of Rs. 2148 crore to improve the quality of motor spirit to meet Bhart Stage -III and IV specifications.
