Noted astrologer says it is not on 19The noted astrologer Yuddanapudi Ayyannapantulu in a press release said that the Telugu New Year day Ugadi should be celebrated on March 20 and not March 19 as Padyami will be present till 6.33am on March.
Speaking on the principles, he said that the Thithi should be taken into account. The presence of Sukla Paksha Padyami till the time mentioned above is popularly known as 'Sarpa' and it is the mathematical aspect that ought to be considered in ascertaining the new year day that heralds the Ugadi as has been done for centuries. He said that 'Sarpa' should be taken into account for the New Year Day, he commented.
It may be recalled that possible change of the festival day as per the official calendars has attracted lots of recent discussions.
