To play major role in Jalayagnam
The Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) is all set to play a major role in Jalayagnam and prepared to meet the steel requirement of Pulichintala irrigation project which is a major component of Jalayagnam.
Sources say that Chief Minister during his recent visit raised the issue and that the Chairman and Managing Director of VSP PK Bishnoi agreed to supply nearly 10,000 tons of steel to the said project. As a part of its Jalayagnam programme, the Government initiated the much awaited Rs. 1,800 crore Pulichintala project to supply water to nearly 13 lakh acres in Krishna delta which covers Krishna, Guntur and West Godavari districts. The Chief Minister personally supervising the project from time to time had directed the officials and contractors concerned to complete the project by the end of the year.
According to official sources, Pulichintala project needs nearly 10,000 tons of steel in different shapes. The VSP is in a good position to meet the requirement at an affordable rate. While modalities are being worked out, the Chief Minister told the CMD of VSP that necessary letter of request would be sent by Major Irrigation Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah. Other things like price, mode of supply and time frame would be finalized soon according to reliable sources.
