GVMC fleecing people by insisting on Vacant Land Tax

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader K Yeerram Naidu on Saturday speaking to media sought the intervention of the State Government for stopping Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation from fleeing people by insisting on payment of Vacant Land Tax (VLT). He said that it is inhuman and said that there is no justification in insisting on payment at the rate of 0.5 percent of the present value of the sites from middle class people. He charged the Government that service tax on 120 items was another way of harassing people and pointed out that the Government was keen on continuing such anti people taxation.

Speaking on the issue of alumina project being set up by Jindal South West Alumina Limited is a fraud on the people. He pointed out that the Congress government has singe an agreement with the Jindal by promising to extract bauxite ore by AP Mineral Development Corporation.

He charged the Chief Minister signing one agreement after another by accepting kickbacks from various promoters without considering the interest of the State. He said that the Government was not learning any lesson despite getting strictures from the judiciary for its omissions and commissions.
