Many trains still cancelled; Death toll reaches 3
The death toll in the Gurudev Express train accident near Duvvada Railway Station at the outskirts of Visakhapatnam reached 3. It may be recalled that the Howrah bound train from Nagercoil Junction derailed at about 11:00 PM on the Monday night injuring many. A central railway safety commission will be looking into the incident to ascertain the actual cause for the train accident.
Meanwhile, many trains that pass via Duvvada were cancelled following damage caused to the track. Few trains are reaching Visakhapatnam Railway Station after a 2 to 7 hours delay. The Railways have begun with the track restoration works to ensure that the train delays are minimized. Sources say that the track will be back for normal use by the morning of Wednesday.
