Airport, Railway, Port operations hit
Gales and rains continue hit the normal life at Vizag. Rains and heavy downpour is threatening people to step away from homes. Some schools and colleges remain closed. Water logging on roads make driving on road a tough task for those who venture out.
Airport operations were severely hit and passengers have to strangle only to hear of delays and cancellation of flights. Sans the flight of Sahara Airlines, all other flights, including those of Air Deccan, Indian, Kingfisher and Paramount were hit. These airliners could only one flight each while the usual number is at 2 or 3.
Situation at the Railway Station too is no different. Many trains are moving after delays while few remain canceled forcing passengers to wait for some more time for the situation to come to normalcy. With the operations on the Kothavalasa – Kirandol like (KK line) being hit, sources say that East Coast Railways will have to loose Rs. 3.5 crores a day. Cargo operations too were hit.
EPDCL's loss due to the rains is at about Rs. 1 crore. Loading and unloading of cargo at the port was hit. Fishermen are warned from going into the sea. Small businesses in the district were not able to do their business as usual. Land line and mobile connectivity is hit at many areas.
