N Sambasiva Rao as Commissioner and Akun Sabharwal as SP
On Sunday, N Sambasiva Rao assumed charge as Visakhapatnam City Police Commissioner from the outgoing VSK Kaumudi. Prior to his posting as Commissioner, he was Inspector General of Police, Rayalaseema. He said that if necessary, new ways would be devised to keep things under control. He assured that the problems like shortage of staff would be mitigated and every possible would be done for the welfare of police personnel. He added that people could access him directly like they used to do so earlier and he would solve the cases basing on the merits of the case.
Akun Sabharwal has taken charge as Superintendent of Police of Visakhapatnam district on Sunday. He said that he would focus on curbing the Maoist activities which are the main law and order problem and due priority would be given to check the land grabbers. A special Joint Action Committee would review the land related problems. The committee consists of a Revenue Divisional Officer, a Registrar and a Circle Inspector.
He said that he would receive petitions from the public on every Monday from 9am to 5pm and the petitioners would be given receipts as acknowledgment of the same with an assurance to redress grievances in a week time.
