Master plan for development of temples

75 temples identified

According to Endowments Commissioner P Sundar Kumar, speaking to media said that the Endowments department is preparing a master plan for the development of 75 temples in the State in view of the requirements for the next 500 to 1000 years. He said that the works costing to Rs.100 crore were identified. He said that the development works would commence soon and a Chief Engineer was appointed for the purpose.

As regards, the temple lands, three land protection cells have been set up in Hyderabad, Kakinada and Tirupati Land records are being fed into computers and digitized. A separate cell was created to deal with the cases pertaining to temple properties. The Dhoopa Deepa Naivedya scheme would cover nearly 4000 temples with the help of Tirumala Tirupati Devastanams by end of August 15. The department was trying to bring about uniformity in prices of prasadams.

He said that the department has also decided to set up at least seven Agama Pathasalas and revive the existing ones. A sum of Rs.50 would be paid every month to each student through banks and lump sum of Rs.1 lakh would be given as an incentive on completion of the courses.
