Gurudev Express derails at Duvvada near Visakhapatnam

Two passengers killed; 35 persons injured

Gurudev Express derailed near Duvvada Railway Station late on Monday night. It is reported that two passengers were killed and 35 passengers were injured in the accident. The accident occurred minutes after the train crossed the Duvvada Railway station around 10.20pm. Five 108 ambulances rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to the King George Hospital. Railway, Medical and District Administration immediately rushed to the spot.

According to preliminary information provided by the Commissioner of Police VS Kaumudi, eleven boogies derailed. The injured were rushed to the King George Hospital and a relief team of the railways was also rushed to the spot. The train services on this route were disrupted.

The APSRTC have made arrangements to transport the stranded victims. EMRI 108 ambulances shifted the patients. Police were seen making announcements about the relief operations. Meanwhile, it is reported that two trains moved on the same track near Visakhapatnam Railway Station in opposite direction only few minutes earlier. The Divisional Railway Manager denying any knowledge about the incident. He made it clear that such a thing was not possible as automatic signal system was in place.
