Labour Department conducts special raid

The Labour department on Wednesday conducted a special raid and rescued two young gils from two flats in Lawsons Bay Colony where they had been employed as domestic labourers. Cases have been booked under Section 3 of the Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act, 1986 against the both the house holders and have been directed to deposit Rs. 20,000 each in the name of the two girls to the Child Labour Fund of Visakhapatnam district.

Deputy Commissioner of Labour MN Varahala Reddy who ordered the drive said that steps are being taken to rehabilitate the girls and provide them education. He also warned that stringent action would be taken against persons employing children below 14 yeas in houses, hotels, restaurants and other places.
