Visakhapatnam, July 5, 2007

Reports 14 per cent growth

According to a press release, the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) achieved a turnover of Rs.2026 crore in April-June 2007, with a growth of 14 percent over the corresponding last year. The release said that the sale of 6.34 lakh tons in domestic market registered a growth of 7 percent over the same in the last year and it recorded a sale of 2.94 tons of value added steel.

Another significant feature includes sale of 1,45,767 tons in the projects segment which is a growth of 16 percent in the corresponding last year. The sale of 5,571 metric tons to district level dealers serving rural market is also the highest for any quarter since its inception.

As far as production front is concerned, the value added production of 3,51,893 tons during the first quarter of 2007-08 is the best for any quarter said the release.
