Sandal wood pasted applied to the deity for the fourth time

Huge number of devotees thronged the hill shrine of Sri Varaha Lakshminrusimha Swamy, Simhachalam on the eve of Guru Poornima on Sunday. The highlight of the festival was 'Giri Pradikshna' made by them and it had been a tradition to go around the hill to invoke the blessings of Lord Lakshminrusimha Swamy.

Tight security arrangements were made to prevent any untoward incident. Temple authorities have made special arrangements for the devotees to celebrated the event without any hitch. As, this days happens to be an auspicious day, sandal wood paste is applied to the deity of Sri Varaha Lakshminrusimha Swamy for the forth time after the Chandanotsavam that was celebrated on April 20, 2007.

At many temples in the city including Shirdi Sai Baba spiritual centre and Sri Varasiddhi Vinayakaswami alayam in Seethammdhara, the organizers performed Sudharshan homam in the morning along with other rituals. The Chief priest Balu Swamy and his team at the Sri varasiddhi Vinayaka temple poured cooked rice over the Sri saibaba idol and it was decorated. Later, harati was performed and prasadam was distributed to the devotees. The celebrations were also conducted by Sri Ganapathi sachichidananada Datta Gnana Bodha Sabha Trust that conducted Guru Paaduka puja at its centre.
