CPM Leaders say they are ready for an open debate on the land distribution
The police on Friday foiled the attempts of CPM activists to pitch flags in a 26 acre land which is reportedly belongs to Endowments Department at Phoolbagh in Anakapalli. Nearly 50 activists of CPM were taken into custody as they entered out of the party office.
As part of their 'Bhu poratam', the CPM leaders were preparing to erect flags in the land. Nearly one hundred activists gathered near the CPM party office at Anakapalli. The police imposed Section 144 of IPC even before they started off and took into custody nearly 50 activists.
Anakapalli CPM division secretary Balakrishna alleged that the land was occupied by Commercial Taxes Minister, Konatala Ramakrishna and vowed to distribute it to the landless poor. He charged that the CPM leaders were ready for a public debate with Congress leaders to prove the same. In a press release, MLC MVS Sarma asked the Chief Minister to take action against the Minister for Commercial Taxes for grabbing the land and distribute the same to the landless poor and also sought for the release of the arrested leaders.
