EAMCET Counselling continues despite disturbances
Several activists of Bharatiya Janata Party and ABVP were arrested when they tried to stall EAMCET counselling at the Government Polytechnic College in protest against Muslim reservations. The police resorted to lathi charge to keep the situation under control.
A large number of activists belonging to BJP and ABVP and its students wing reached the college before counselling began and raised slogans against the State Government for providing reservations to Muslims. They argued that the government was trying to appease the minority community, whereas it neglected the plight of other communities which require its support.
Meanwhile, some of the agitators went inside by crossing the police barricades, disguising themselves as EAMCET rankers. Their attempt to enter was foiled by the police personnel who reacted immediately and send them out. However, the counselling went on well despite disturbances without any hindrance.
