BSNL aiming at improving its customer base

The Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) General Manager P. Nagaraju addressing a press conference on Thursday said that the year 2007 will be the year of broadband services.

Addressing a press conference on Thursday, he said that the Visakhapatnam BSNL could improve the customer base to 2.40 lakh connections including 1.48 lakh landline connections and 85,000 cellular connections. He said that unlimited call packages introduced for B-Fone customers, including Rs. 399 and Rs. 599 in the city are gaining popularity and nearly 5,500 customers subscribed to the packages.

He said that the BSNL is offering the ‘Intervening Rental Waiver’ scheme for both the B-Fone and cellular customers with an option to choose any existing plan. The scheme is open till January 22. Payment of old dues will be accepted in two or three instalments. On the broadband front, 5400 connections are in vogue and the speed has been increased from 256 kbps to 2 mbps with effect from January 1.
