Consumers asked to follow economy measuresKeeping in view of the scarcity of power, the Eastern Power Distribution Company Limited (EPDCL) chairman and Managing Director, Praveen Prakash urged the people for cooperation with regard the regulation of power supply timings and duration of supply in the context of critical condition of supply. He said that in view of the 100 MW power scarcities in vogue, power cut to the non-farming power consumers has become inevitable.
Out of the 1.33 lakh odd pump sets within the purview of APEPDCL only 2,621 are in the category of bills payment while the rest come under free power supply. He also appealed he formers who are not eligible but enjoying free power to show their magnanimity by voluntarily offering to pay power bills. He said no penalties will be imposed if the farmers volunteered in this regard except payment of additional load charges.
In the event of any farmer using power supply by illegal direct line connection, they too can voluntarily snap the connection and take a regular power connection under Tatkal scheme and assured that no cases will be filed against them. Farmers using power other than agricultural purposes are requested to voluntarily disclose them and take corrective measures.
