Central University status hailedThe Central Institute of English and Foreign Languages (CIEFL) attained the status of Central University, CIEFL Registrar MM Naidu said to media persons. He thanked the Union Minister for Human Resources Arjun Singh and Minister for State D. Purandareswari for helping the cause. He further said that the CIEFL will get financial autonomy as well as academic autonomy due to the upgrading and are plans to establish regional centres in the State as well as other States.
The CIEFL offers courses in French, Arabic, German, Spanish and Japanese languages among which, Japanese and Spanish languages have more demand. There are other plans to offer courses in Chinese and Korean languages in the near future.
He said that there are 100 professors and 500 regular students at CIEFL. It also provides regular and short-term courses through distance mode, and online courses were started this year in French.
