Stolen ornaments estimated to be worth over Rs. 1 croreBurglars broke into the house of son in law of former Mayor DV Subba Rao, Srinivasa Bhaskar in MVP Colony Sector I and decamped with gold ornaments weighing 67 tolas, silver articles and a diamond-studded necklace, which is of 25 years old worth Rs. lakh.
According to the Inspector of III town police station Narasimha Murty, Bhaskar and his wife along with DV Subbarao had gone to Tirupati on January 1. When they returned on Monday afternoon, they realized that the gold ornaments, silver articles and the diamond-studded necklace were missing while the other electronic goods were untouched.
The city police pressed into service the CLUES team and the sniffer dog that led the police upto National Highway on Venkojipalem. They suspect the involvement of old criminals in the incident. The Police are investigating the case in all angles.
