Government to use feedback to frame ammendmentsAddressing an awareness meeting organized by the Forum for Better Visakha and Space on Sunday, the State Information Commissioner R. Dilip Reddy said that a report on the implementation of the RI Act in all departments would be submitted to the Assembly soon to mark the completion of one year.
Speaking to media on Sunday, that officials had been asked to send the feedback by February 20 based on which the Commission would prepare the annual report. He revealed that as on January 31, as many as 2549 appeals were received of which 1880 were disposed of and 09 were in various stages of process. He said that the Commission would soon introduce an online facility to tract the status of applications and also provide it over phone. He said that he had toured the 23 districts of the State as many as sixty times and collected the feedback on implementation of the Ac. The Report would be submitted on February 20. He added that the people should be in a position to boldly extract information they want by asserting themselves. He commented that as long as people remain passive, no law would yield the desired results.
The Government would take the feedback it got from the people in the form of complaints, suggestions and memorandums and use them for bring in further amendments to the Act, he added. Electronic Media Association president P. Anand, VJF secretary Yugandhar Reddy and Joint Collector Sandeep Kumar Sultania were present.
