Records impressive growth of 20.3 percentThe Central Excise duty collections in Visakhapatnam Zone consisting of Visakhapatnam 1,2, Guntur and Tirupati Commissionerates has recorded an impressive growth of 20.3 percent over the corresponding period of last year as against 6.02 percent growth. The collections in real terms were Rs. 5.754 crore as against Rs. 4,782 crore last year.
Similarly, the customs revenue from Visakhapatnam and Kakinada ports also recorded a growth of 11.43 percent. It was Rs. 2,168 crore upto January 31, 2007 as compared to Rs. 1,946 crore last year.
The Chief Commissioner PN Vital Dass said that the collections recorded a massive growth of 56 percent over the last year with regard to service tax.
