First major civil engineering work as expansion projectThe Secretary of Ministry of Steel, Government of India RS Pandey inaugurated Caster Shop at the Steel Melting Shop (SMS) of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP). The meeting was presided over by the CMD of VSP Y Siva Sagar Rao. This is the first major civil engineering works for the 6.3 million ton per annum expansion project of the SMS.
The pilling works were awarded to Simplex Infrastructures Limited, Chennai and will be completed in nine months. Once completed, the works will provide a platform for 1.15 lakh cubic meters of concreting in phases and also erection of 20,000 Metric Tonnes of Structural Steel. Top officials of the VSP have participated on the occasion.
