Diabetes Foundation conducts the programmeThe Diabetes Foundation conducted an awareness programme on anemia at the Government Women's College on Monday. B. Jayakumar, Additional Director of Income Tax, inaugurated the anemia free campaign. Anuradha Reddy, Foundation president speaking on the occasion said that the increase in incidence of anemia among women and children in the country was a major concern.
She said according to World Health Organization, iron deficiency anemia is the number one nutritional disorder in the world. Dietetic and nutrition surveys in India reveal that 87 percent of pregnant women suffer from anemia.
