Captures images of heart beats at frequent intervals
The Vijaya Medical Centre, a diagnostic institution has installed a light speed Volume Computed Tomography (VCT) scanner imported from the General Electric, USA. The equipment will serve the patients belonging to the north coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh and those from neighboring states like Orissa.
The VCT is a 64-slice scanner that can capture images of heart beats at frequent intervals. The VCT coronary angiography is being preferred by cardiologists the world over for noninvasive visualization of heart vessels. The advantages of CT coronary angiography over catheter angiography are non-invasive. The fatty and calcium deposits over the wall can be seen and no hospitalization is needed. It costs less and the status of heart chambers, muscles, valves and lungs can also be evaluated through radiation.
According to a press release by Vijaya Medical Centre stated that the patients with family history of heart attacks, heavy smokers, diabetics, overweight patients with high cholesterol level, stress and high tension jobs can undergo CT coronary angiography.
