To review security arrangements ahead of Prime Minister visit to city
Top officials of the Special Protection Group (SPG) from New Delhi arrived here to inspect the arrangements being made for the Prime Minister, Man Mohan Singh's visit on January 2 and 3rd of January, 2008. They officials reviewed the security arrangements made for the 95th Indian Science Congress at Andhra University and a meeting of DWACRA women groups at Port Stadium. The SPG officials led by DIG SS Chaturvedi have inspected the route proposed to be taken by the Prime Minister's convey on January 2 and 3, 2007.
The top SPG officials held discussions with the Eastern Naval Command Officials on the arrangements made for the Prime Minister's arrival at INS Dega and his proposed visit to Eastern Naval Command. The officials also visited the venue of the Indian Science Congress at Andhra University Engineering College grounds. They visited the Port Stadium where the Prime Minister is expected to address the DWACRA women.
The SPG team inspected the security arrangements made by the district administration and city officials and reviewed the arrangements made with the District Collector, Anil Kumar Singhal, City Police Commissioner, N Sambasiva Rao and other officials. Sources say, some more SPG personnel would arrive here in a couple of days to take control of the security arrangements for the ISC event.
