Lakhs of devotees to offer prayers at the temple
Speaking to media on Sunday, the Regional Joint Commissioner S Kondala Rao said that lakhs of devotees from all over the north Andhra and the neighboring Orissa were expected to visit the ancient temple for worship. During the month of Margasira month, Thursdays are more auscipicious when the festival begins from midnight itself.
He said elaborate arrangements have been made for the four Margasira Thursdays for the convenience of the devotees. The highlights of the month long festival would be special panchamritabhishekam, recital of hymns, Lakshmi Homam and Srichakra puja every day and Ksheerabhishekam on Fridays between 9.30am to 10.30am. Ashtalakshmi Alankaram would be held on December 29 to January 8 and an expert for Alur of Nellore district would decorate the Goddess in eight different forms of Goddess Lakshmi during the period.
The Executive Officer D Srinivasa Rao said that eminent scholars would deliver discourses from 4pm to 6pm at the Ammavari Mandapam in the temple complex. There would be cultural programmes of devotional music, dance, harikatha and mythological drama. Free buses for the convenience of the pilgrims.
