Bhogapuram and S Rayavaram considered ideal spots

Sources say that a committee of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has identified Bhogapuram and S Rayavaram as the ideal locations for setting up Visakhapatnam International Greenfield Airport. The committee is conducing survey on request from the State Government. Both the locations have enough land for setting up greenfield airport.

Both the locations are close to Visakhapatnam, a coastal location which the Andhra Pradesh Government is keen on making as the Industrial capital of the state. Lands in both these two shortlisted locations are amply available. A single runway International Greenfield Airport needs 5000 acres of land while one with two runs ways would require 6000 acres. A single runway airport would be good meet the air traffic requirements of up to 30 years.

With the shortlisting of the names, the already hot real estate market in the region is expected to shot up. Land prices have in the Visakhapatnam region have shot up and are now close to that of Hyderabad and other similar semi metros.
