RTA to launch a interceptor vehicle drive in the city
The Visakhapatnam Deputy Transport Commissioner, S Venkateswara Rao said that the Road Transport Authority (RTA) will shortly launch a drive in the city with an Interceptor Vehicle’ and initiate action against the offenders. He said that the riders violating the prescribed speed limits would be fined and legal actions under MV Act for failure to pay fine within a week at Visakhapatnam or Anakapalli.
The maximum speed limit for taxi cars, buses and lorries is 65 kmph, 50 kmph for two wheelers and articulated vehicles and 30kmph for other vehicles. However, the maximum speed limit for individual vehicles will change as per the national and state highway norms.
The Interceptor Vehicle facilitates recording the speed through speed laser gun identifying those breaking traffic rules and driving while speaking over cell phones using surveillance camera and check drunken driving with breath analyzers.
