Nearly 8,000 delegates from all over the world likely to participate
The 95th Indian Science Congress scheduled to begin from January 3 to 7, tight security arrangements have been made. Thousands of police personnel from various districts have been drawn on the city to ensure the safety of a host of VVIPs including Prime Minister and President who will participate in the ISC. Nearly 8,000 delegates from all over the world are expected to attend the event.
The City Police Commissioner, N Sambasiva Rao said that nearly 3,600 police personnel from other districts would be used in addition to the 1,200 policemen in the city . The City Police Commissioner and other top police officers were busy in assigning the duties to the force at the Police Stadium on Monday. The 4,800 strong force includes 9 SP rank officers, 29 DSPs, 65 Inspectors, 240 Sub Inspectors and 1,700 constables and 800 home guards.
There will be a major traffic diversions in the city on Wednesday and Thursday. There will be checking of vehicles at the check posts set up at various places in the city. Police advised the public not to park vehicles alongside the roads to be taken by the VVIPs during their stay in the city.
