Ten lakh devotees expected this year
In view of Margasira Masam festival of Goddess Kanakamalakshi, the famous deity of coastal region, the organizing committee met here on Tuesday under the chairmanship of RDO D Venkata Reddy. The ten days celebrations at the Sri Kanakamahalakshmi Temple will begin from December 10, 2007.
The coordination committee decided to make necessary arrangements for the smooth darshan of Goddess. Speaking on the occasion, the RDO said another queue complex will be erected and barricades will be arranged at the Garbhagudi. Sanitation staff will work in three shifts and first aid centre will be set.
The TDO said that generators will be placed for uninterrupted supply and that women constables will be posted for serving women devotees. Special buses would ply from Rushikonda, Madhavadhara, Gajuwaka, and Simhachalam apart from many other places in the city and rural limits. Safe drinking water and other essential amenities will be provided for the devotees. The Executive officer of the devastanam D Srinivasa Rao, MRO, PAP Swamy, CI Ramakrishna Prasad, SIs Tirumala Rao and Lakhmana Rao participated in the meeting.
