BJP Mahila Morcha conducts huge rally
The Bharatiya Janata Party (Mahila wing) on Tuesday organized a huge rally demanding closure of belt shops in the city. The president of Mahila wing T Vijaya Lakshmi participated and flagged off the rally. The rally started at Maddilapalem RTC Depot and ended at the Excise Office at MVP Colony demanding to take steps to close the belt shops in the city.
They submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner of Excise Department Venkata Swamy. The State secretary charged the governments both Congress and Telugu Desam for encouraging the belt shops that ruins hundreds of poor families. They said that from January 4, 2008 onwards, they would intensify the agitation against belt shops across the State. The secretary K Lakshmi speaking on the occasion said that in the past, they forcibly closed the belt shops in Dandu Bazaar and Maharanipeta.
They even threatened that if the Excise department fails to close the belt shops in the city, they would attack on the belt shops. Leaders of Mahila Wing of BJP participated in the rally.
