20 CPI activists arrested by police
Leaders of the CPI and Employee unions led by CPI leader AJ Stalin on Thursday held demonstrations at APSRTC Regional Manager’s office in the city. The police took 20 CPI activists into custody when they made a bid to barge into the office and stall the finalization process of tenders called for to hire 300 buses in Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam.
In a press release, CPM secretary K Loknadham stated that hiring the private buses was an indirect plot gradually places the APSRTC into private hands.
