INSDAG was set up in 1996
The Chairman and Managing Director of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, PK Bishnoi is elected President of Executive Council of Institute for Steel Development and Growth (INSDAG) at Kolkata.
The INSDAG was set up under the Societies Registration Act in 1996 with representation from RINL, SAIL, TISCO, Usha Ispat, JVSL and Ministry of Steel on the lines of Steel Construction Institute, UK. The objectives of the INSDAG is to promoting the usage of steel, particularly in the construction industry. The institute has nearly 800 members and is presently receiving support from Joint Plant Committee.
The Institute has introduced several marketing initiatives to introduce steel in all future airports in the country. Border Roads Organization have been approached by INSDAG for adoption of steel option in the road projects. It is recognized globally as one of the leading institutes in the areas of structuring steel design and is a member of Living Steel Programme of International Iron and Steel Institute and the World Steel Construction Council set up by IISI.
