Stages demonstration before Joint Collector
The Opposition parties who are agitating against bauxite mining in the agency areas and establishment of alumina refineries in Makavaripalem and S.Kota Mandals staged a demonstration when the Joint Collector M Veerabhadrayya visited the site for the proposed refinery on Wednesday.
People and farmers led by Narsipatnam MLA Ch.Ayyannapatrudu of TDP, Chintapalli MLA G Demudu, CPI and CPI(M) District Secretary. They raised slogans against allotment of lands in Ramannapalem and Rachapalli Panchayats when the Joint Collector inspected the lands to be alloted to the Rus Ali Khaima Alumina Refinery.
The CPI District Secretary JV Satyanaryana Murty said that the bauxite mining and alumina factories would destroy the life of people in both the agency and plain areas and cause heavy pollution of rivers.
