Plans afoot for disbursal of Rs.360 crores crop loans
In the Independence Day address to the people, the Minister for Housing Botsa Satyanarayana has appealed to the people to participate in the development works taken up by the State Government in various areas and contribute for the progress of the State. The Minister who hurled the National Flag at the parade grounds on Wednesday listed out the in depth, the development works initiated in the district and the amounts allocated under different heads.
Botsa said that the Jala Yagnam programme, Polavaram Left Canal works taken up at an estimated cost of Rs. 488.35 crores were in progress. The project would provide irrigation to 1.5 lakh hectares of land. The anicuts would be constructed across the Sarada river at Thummapala, Godari and Nraspuram villages at an estimated cost of Rs.38.93 crores, work on construction of anicuts across the Thandava and Varaha rivers are in various stages of completion.
Plans are afoot for disbursement of Rs.360 crores as crop loans during the present kharif season of which Rs.200 crores have already been disbursed. Under Indiramma Scheme, of the 1,05,943 houses sanctioned to the district, 50,959 have been completed at a cost of Rs.139.83 crores and other houses were in various stages of completion. He added that 26,685 applications have been received under the 'Rajiv Swagruha' scheme in the district. Under Rajiv Gruhakalpa, out of the 8,960 houses sanctioned, 4,096 were completed while the others were in progress. He spoke at length on the investments made for the development of IT Sector, Visakhapatnam Airport, expansion of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, HPCL, NTPC and other industries. The Minister reviewed the ceremonial parade. He greeted freedom fighters who came to witness the celebrations. District Collector, AK Singhal, Police Commissioner N Sambasiva Rao and others participated.
