VUDA keen on developing more attractions
Vice Chaiman of the Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority (VUDA) G Venkatram Reddy said that the authority is keen on developing more attractions for the people of Visakhapatnam. He spoke at a function celebrating the five years of decommissioning of INS Kurusura and conversion into a submarine museum. He asked the Indian Navy for a possibility of brining in a decommissioned warship to develop for public view on lines of Kurusura.
INS Kurusura played a critical role in the Indo Pak Conflict in 1971. Later after its decommission, it was brought from Sea to Land and put on a concrete foundation and converted into a museum. Six guides and a curator from amongst the retired Naval staff were engaged for the maintenance of the museum as it began to attract visitors and tourists.
