Compensation to the tune of Rs. 24.4 lakh to the families of victims
The Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) on Monday paid a compensation of Rs. 24.4 lakh to the families of victims who died/injured during the slab collapse of Ukkunagaram Gana Sabha, a few months ago. The amount was paid during legal awareness camp conducted by District Legal Services Authority in the presence of the District Judge R. Kanta Rao.
According to a press release, the management of VSP said that the compensation was paid to the families of the deceased and injured labourers on humanitarian grounds on the request of public representatives.
In addition to the above, the Ukkunagaram Gana Sabha and the building contractor paid Rs. 2 lakh each as compensation. Gandi Babji, MLA, VSP Director (Personnel) Y. Manohar, the families of the victims and other officials were present on the occasion.
