Searches conducted in SP's Camp office and his house at Hyderabad
The Central Intelligence Unit (CIU) of the Anti Corruption Bureau arrested Visakhapatnam Rural Superintendent of Police, JG Murali on Saturday night on charges of corruption and having assets disproportionate to known sources of income. He is taken to Hyderabad. The day long searches in the SP's camp office and his house in Hyderabad, the ACB sleuths unearthed Rs. 1.47 lakh in addition to properties in and around Hyderabad, investments in real estate business in Bangalore and in the granite industry, a Maruti Zen and house hold articles all amounts to Rs. 65 lakhs.
According to a press release said that the officials also searched the houses of some people believed to have been benefited by the SP and seized documents pertaining to real estate business. The ACB team arrested P Nagesh and nine others at Madurawada. The release stated that the Bheemili police in a separate raid seized two country made pistols with 150 rounds. According to sources, searches were being taken up in Dhone, Kamareddy, Guntur, Khammam and Bangalore.
Speaking to press persons, Murali said that he was innocent and that some IPS officers who were jealous of his growing popularity as strict officer could be behind the raids. He refuted the allegations that he received bribes in posting of Sub Inspectors, transfers of constables and in recruitment of Girijan Home Guards.
