Funds meant for development of District Libraries
Addressing a review meeting of District Libraries on Sunday, the Minister for Commercial Taxes, Konatala Ramakrishna said that the government has sanctioned Rs. 7 crore for the development and strengthening of libraries in the district. During the meeting, he said a new building will be constructed in place of the old building along with facilities like providing computers with Internet facility to poor students, lending books in all wards etc.
District Libraries Chairman T. Nagesh said apart from the District Library, there are 63 branch libraries, eight rural libraries and three regional libraries in the district. In this connection, the Municipal Commissioner, Mukesh Kumar Meena has promised to give 50 computers for branch libraries with Internet connections.
