The King George Hospital (KGH) Superintendent T Ravi Raju inaugurated the IGNOU Study Centre at the Government College of Nursing on Sunday. Speaking on the occasion, he emphasized the importance of higher education in nursing on a par with advances in medical technology. According to a press release, thirty experienced staff nurses from different parts of the State joined the Bachelor of Science (BSc) Nursing course at the study centre.
Deputy Director of IGNOU Regional Centre at Hyderabad Siva Swaroop detailed the salient features of B.Sc. Nursing curriculum and spoke about the quality of IGNOU's education worldwide. Assistant Professor of the Government College of Nursing and in charge programme officer of the study centre BD Florence Nightingale said that all diploma holders should be trained as graduate nurses by 2020 according to the direction of Indian Nursing Council.
Principal of Government College of Nursing V. Vijayalakshmi, Nursing Superintend of KGH BP Vasundara and programme in charges of IGNOU in various institutions in the city participated in the occasion.
