Says Banks lack enough manpower
The All India State Bank Officers Federation (AISBOF) rejected the proposal from the Finance Minister for the merger of public sector banks. AISBOF was in particular against the merger of the associate banks of the State Bank of India (SBI) with itself.
The Federation felt that there was shortage of manpower in the banks and that SBI alone would required over 10,000 additional officer staff and a similar number of clerical staff for the smooth day to day operations of the bank. The Bank has to immediately fill the shortage and take up bank branch expansion as soon as possible.
